Deborah Lippmann's Celebrity Shades

Not sure why I didn't know this (I could kick myself) but Deborah Lippman has a collection (currently at ten shades) of nail lacquers that are collaborations with celebrities, click Deborah Lipmann Celebrity Shades to see the current shades. Some of the celebrities Deborah Lipmann has collaborated with include Renee Zellweger, Sarah Jessica Parker, Mary J Blige, Mariah Carey, etc. The two shades I'll be getting better acquainted with today are collaborations with two iconic singers - Cher and Pat Benatar, who's creations are named after their songs.

Believe - created with Cher

Believe is described as a sizzling, shimmering gold beige but upon closer inspection, I saw hints of multi-colored micro glitter, especially pale pink. Not what I've expected when I think of the bold Cher (its more subtle than what I was expecting) but like Cher, it's a classic.

Hit Me With Your Best Shot - created with Pat Benatar

Hit Me With Your Best Shot is described as a glistening gun metal and unlike Cher's Believe, this is exactly the shade I think of when I think of Pat Benatar circa 1980 (very black leather and spiky hair). The color I wouldn't describe as gun metal though, its more of a steely ink with a subtle duo-chrome - in certain lights, I see green and purple shimmer (maybe that's why it looks inky). Either way, I love it, its absolutely fabulous and if anyone asked me who did this color remind me of (if I didn't know who created it), I would say Pat Benatar.

I would love to see Deborah Lippmann collaborate with more musical icons and not just female artists either - bring on Billy Idol (I'm thinking a very frosty white), David Bowie (definitely a duo-chrome but what duo could get difficult), Prince (of course Purple), etc. As for the next female, I am putting my bid in for Tina Turner.

Deborah Lippmann Introduces New Fall Shades

Fall brings wonderful things like cooler weather, gorgeous sunset colored leaves, Fashion Week and the new Deborah Lippmann nail colors. For fall, Deborah Lippmann introduces four matte and wonderfully murky colors that capture the fall perfectly.

From left to right, we have Billionaire - a creme moody hunter green, Brick House, a shimmering rust and Single Ladies, a creme flirtatious red.

And speaking of Fashion Week, fashion designer Narciso Rodriguez and Deborah Lippmann collaborated to create Stormy Weather (featured below), an edgy crème granite that is a far cry from his usual nudes nails which always made appearance on the catwalk

Each of the four beautiful colors retail for $16 each and are available at the following retailers - Barneys New York, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and online at

Now if you prefer your nails with a bit more showmanship, then you need the Nordstrom Anniversary Set - a dazzling glitter trio of some favorites (in order of appearance) - Happy Birthday - a party in a bottleCandy Shop - bubblegum pink and Forget You - party all night

I wish I wasn't cash light at the moment because I would be the first in line at Nordstrom on July 13th when this $42 set is available. But don't fret, you can also buy it at Barneys New York, Neiman Marcus and online at

Red, White and Blue Nails

While many people will be pulling out their stars and stripes or flag designs in celebration of the 4th of July, I wanted something a bit more post Independence Day friendly, so instead of going full out on the Americana theme, I went with the below

I like the alternating red and blue nails with the touch of white. The red is OPI's Girls Just Want To Play - a true creamy red. The blue is SPARITUAL's creamy Circle Of Life and as you can probably guess, the white which represents the stars and stripes is SALLY HANSEN's Crackle Overcoat in Snow Blast

I'm very happy with the result. Have a happy 4th everyone!!
